Intelligent Mobility Aid Changes The Game For Seniors

Isowalk, a revolutionary mobility aid that provides active, personalized walking assistance to any kind of user, is harnessing the power of the crowd to bring innovation to the senior wellness market. The technology is now campaigning on Indiegogo.com.

Designed as the successor to the cane, Isowalk moves beyond the cane's limited utility and hostile ergonomics to provide active, naturally self-propulsive walking assistance that adapts to its user and greatly enhances mobility.

Current mobility aids are failing seniors everywhere. According to new findings from the National Health And Retirement Study, 69 percent of the older adults surveyed have trouble walking more than a few blocks, and 45 percent find it difficult to walk even one block. Further, the New York Times reports over 47,000 emergency room visits in the U.S. occur annually because of falls from canes and walkers.

Through aerospace-inspired engineering, Isowalk's native pendulum movement "walks" with virtually no user effort, providing optimal orthopedic leverage with minimal strain, and features triple the ground contact over a conventional cane. It also features dramatic styling that eliminates the stigma of using a cane, particularly for younger seniors.

"Isowalk is a response to an enormous health need that has not been met for all the wrong reasons," says founder and CEO Ron Goldberg. "Mobility aids have not become better, they have become cheaper; in many cases they're free. Yet they are still immensely profitable to the healthcare industry, which negates any real desire for innovation. As a result, everyone who needs help to walk has had to suffer with what is literally a prehistoric technology. That is, until Isowalk."

In addition to its native biomechanical intelligence, planned Isowalk models will feature digital intelligence that can provide real-time and archived wellness feedback, two-way alerts, and location tracking, among other smart applications.

Isowalk's Indiegogo campaign runs through July 25. Demos of Isowalk features and contributor perks can be seen at:
